Intro to College Writing

Welcome to this NEW MPTC class! Intro to College Writing is designed as a bridge to Written Communication 801 195 and the other General Education classes. It is designed for students who have gone as far as they can working in the Student Success Center but are not quite ready for Written communication. At MPTC student placement (Student Success Center, Intro to College Writing or Written Communication) is determined by the Asset or similar entrance exams.

This class introduces basic principals of composition, including organization, unity and coherence in paragraphs and multi-paragraph documents.

Students use Writing First 3rd Edition by Kirzner and Mandell as their text and guide. In addition, students use various instructor prepared documents. These documents (worksheets and handouts) as well as the Learning Plans and the Performance Assessments are available by clicking the appropriate menu item at the left..
