This course teaches the writing process which includes prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing. Through a variety of writing assignments, the student will analyze audience and purpose, research and organize ideas, and format and design documents based on subject matter and content.

peer revisionOne of the two texts for this course is The Longman Reader by Nadell, Langan, and Comodromes. Students have consistently found the presentation of writing strategies well organized and useful. Students have also enjoyed the concise readings that the authors offer as examples of the strategies. The second text is The Brief Penguin Handbook by Faigley. This writing handbook offers students a resource for style, grammar, usage, and MLA documentation.
